Hi, thanks for being here. This website is a home for my writing, projects, links, and the occasional useful thing I want to share. It also works as an online business card, sort of. But enough about the website. Here's a bit about me and why I do what I do.
My name is Wesley, but most people call me Wes. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona, where I still live today. I was raised as a CODA, a Child of Deaf Adults, and that shaped a lot of how I see communication, independence, and access. I learned early how important communication is, and how much it matters that everyone has a fair voice. No matter our differences, people deserve to be heard, understood, and treated with respect. Growing up that way also gave me a level of freedom and independence that I did not fully understand until later.
My history with computers started at age 13 when I built my first custom gaming PC. I remember buying an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 from Newegg for $384. That electronic scrap is now a keychain with a hole through it.
I always knew I wanted to build my life around computers and technology. I just did not know exactly where that would lead. It started with games, then evolved into community. Communicating and gaming with people around the world felt like magic to me. This interconnected mess of wires, fiber optics, nodes, and blinking red and green lights made it possible to build real friendships across the globe.
Naturally, I wanted to know how it all worked. I started learning about servers and networks by building and hosting my own game and voice servers. We would have dozens of people talking and gaming together, all thanks to an old repurposed computer sitting under my desk.
That was when I realized my passion was not just technology itself. It was using technology to bring people together, help them, and empower them.
In school, computer class was my favorite, of course. I later started classes at Pima Community College for cybersecurity and systems/network administration. Before graduating, I landed my first dream job as a technician at Smart Parts PC, a local computer store.
Smart Parts PC helped me grow and discover strengths I did not know I had. Over the years, I went from introverted gamer to personable problem solver, learning how to talk with people, understand their needs, and solve complex technical issues. Eventually managing Smart Parts PC was a dream come true for 13-year-old Wes.
Today, my professional life is different, but in many ways the mission is the same. My goal is still to deliver honest, dependable technology solutions through my own company, IT Wes LLC opens in a new tab , and through Fortress MSP opens in a new tab , where I serve as Director of Operations.
